Pettybone update!
Hey everyone,
T-shirts are sold out at the mo, we're gonna print some more when we have some monies ;). So not anytime soon ha! Anyway our record is coming out in September!!!! It's a bad ass record and we're so proud of it. Can't wait to share it with you. We're going on European tour in September to support it. We'll keep you posted about it. For now we're playing bunch of shows in London and around UK. As a matter of fact, we're playing some great shows in London and you should come down and hang out with us! Like our mates from Israhell are coming and it's gonna be a great show cuz it's free but the bands are seriously fucking good, mate. :)
We're heading down to Bristol, Peterborough and up north if we are lucky enough. Also we're heading down to Brighton soon so it's better be sunny, honey. Dates are on myspace, facebook so look it up. James Johnston is becoming one of my favourite guitaplayers. for real. apparently he's an actor too.

CONVERGE SHOW JUNE 14TH
Converge will play London’s Islington Academy with Pettybone, 33 on June 14th.
The band have also revealed that they are to release a split EP with Rhode island hardcore mob, Drop Dead. The split 7′EP will be self released by both bands, and distributed to retailers/distros by Deathwish Direct and Armageddon. The split is set for probable release in May.

Point at them!
The way they portray the "violent protesters" at the Anti-cuts demonstration in the news and in the media is fucking disgusting and of course it takes the attention away from the whole thing and that is: The Government's unfair cuts to public services. What are a few broken windows in comparison with many broken lives affected by the cuts, increasing poverty and homelessness? but we live in a society where the property is valued more than human life so I guess that's why it's a big deal.

SUPPORT JONATHAN POLLAK, IMPRISONED ISRAELI ANARCHIST
We are calling on all our allies in radical struggles the world over to send letters of support to political prisoner Jonathan Pollak, currently serving a three-month prison sentence in Israel (see background below).
Jonathan, longtime activist in anarchist, anti-occupation and animal rights struggles, has been imprisoned since January 11th, after a blatantly political trial stemming from his participation in a protest against the siege on Gaza .
Best known for his prominent role in the "Anarchists Against the Wall" initiative, Jonathan has been serving for the last two years as media coordinator for the Popular Struggle Coordination Committee, a Palestinian umbrella organization designed to garner media attention for the unarmed struggle in the West Bank .
UPDATE, JAN 16TH, 2011:
Jonathan is incarcerated at Hermon Prison in the Lower Galilee, where he is expected to serve his full sentence, as repentance and "accepting responsibility for one's crime" seem to be a requirement for getting time off for good behavior (though he might still get a 14-days earlier "administrative release"). Through the prison's canteen he is currently able to purchase a wide enough variety of vegan food items to maintain an adequate diet, and so far he has not run into any problems, either from other inmates or from the guards. Generally speaking, he can be said to be in good spirits, and has expressed his wish to hear from fellow activists and radicals.

BACKGROUND:
On January 31, 2008, some thirty protesters participated in a Critical Mass bicycle ride through the streets of Tel Aviv in protest of the siege on Gaza . During the protest, Pollak was arrested by plain-clothed officers who recognized him from previous demonstrations and assumed he was the organizer of the action. In fact, Pollak was accused simply of riding his bicycle in the same manner as the rest of the protesters (no one else was arrested and the protest was allowed to continue with no further incidents or detentions). His conviction by a Tel Aviv Magistrates court judge activated an older three-month suspended sentence, imposed on Pollak in a previous trial for protesting the construction of the Separation Barrier. An additional three months prison term was also imposed for the current conviction, which is being served concurrently.
The arrest and consequent indictment appears to be the result of police vindictiveness, rather than of Pollak's behavior at the time of the event; as stated, Pollak was but one in a group of protesters who behaved exactly like him, yet he was the only one to be singled out. Moreover, environmental Critical Mass events take place in Tel Aviv on a regular basis, but have never been met with such a response. Other protests, which have caused far more severe obstruction of traffic did not result in arrests, and surely did not lead to criminal charges and imprisonment.
On his conviction, Pollak argued for his sentence, saying "I find myself unable to express remorse in this case [...]. If His Honor decides to go ahead and impose my suspended prison sentence, I will go to prison wholeheartedly and with my head held high. It will be the justice system itself, I believe, that ought to lower its eyes in the face of the suffering inflicted on Gaza's inhabitants, just like it lowers its eyes and averts its vision each and every day when faced with the realities of the occupation."

There is a new squat in my neighbourhood which is getting opened this Friday 7th of January. There will be some hot drinks and movies. It's gonna be great. The address is :111 Lower Clapton Road E5 ONP.
We're playing a show on 21st of January in South London, Falling Down, Bullet Ridden and Post Sala Resurgo. More info on the flyer.
Saturday 29th of January belongs to No Fees, No cuts demo in London. You can find more info here:

celebration fundraiser on the 19th of February at the Round Chapel in
Clapton. We really need people to get involved, either in the planning and
run up or on the night as crew.
Do please let us know if you can help in anyway, no experience required
and any contribution would be greatly appreciated.

We are busy organising a big party on 19 February 2011 at the Round Chapel
in Hackney to celebrate the Library’s 35th Anniversary. Lots of volunteer
positions have become available for feminists with the right skills and a
commitment to helping the library.
Here is a list of available positions:
* artist liaison – to take care of the acts
* stage crew – to help the stage manager
* stalls manager – to organise the booking & setting up of stalls, and
assist stall holders
* stalls crew – to cover the Library’s stall and help the stalls’
manager
* drinks manager – to take care of the bar: stocking up and making
sure we don’t run out of drinks
* bar staff – to cover the bar
* raffle manager – to organise the raffle and source prizes
* stewards – to help with setting up the venue and during the event *
ticket manager/door staff – to organise ticket sales, wristbands and
cover the door at the event
If any of these roles sound like something you could be interested in,
email us on volunteer@feministlibrary.co.uk or come in to the Library to
discuss the event and the available positions in more detail. Feel free to
pass this on to your friends and help us spread the word.
